My daughter, Lanie, and I have been to Vail, Colorado in early December the past four years in a row and would like to continue making a habit of it. Read this list to find out why you should too:

  1. It’s the least expensive time to ski. With the purchase of your Epic Pass, you’ll save 20-30% on lifts, equipment rentals, some food, and lodging during the early season. We typically pack up Rip and stay at Antlers. Use Vail Sports for equipment Ski Valet slope side and delivery to your condo lobby.

  2. It’s less crowded. We’ve had no lines or very short lines for the gondolas and the slopes are wide open. It’s easy to score dinner reservations at all of the best restaurants or pop into bar seating last minute. Be sure to try Mountain Standard, Vail Chophouse, and Vintage Vail.

  3. It’s extra beautiful because everything is decorated for Christmas. There are lit trees and festive decor throughout Lionshead and Vail Village. What better way to get in the holiday spirit?

  4. The shopping! It’s perfect timing to buy special gifts for loved ones before Christmas. Perch is an adorable boutique in Vail Village and their Lululemon, Patagonia, and Aviator Nation stores are extra special.

  5. There are special holiday events. We’ve caught many amazing and free Christmas ice skating performances at both Solaris and the Lionshead rink. There are concerts and musical events as well this time of year.

30A Vacay

Setting your sights on Seaside is like watching a Vineyard Vines ad coming to life. This place is all things southern, upscale, and preppy. Milky white buidings, pastel cottages, and beach cruiser bicycles abound in this coastal heaven on earth.

After arriving at the Panama City Airport (ECP), I recommend taking a car service or Uber a short 20 mile drive to the most idyllic little beach town on the planet. Setting your sights on Seaside is like watching a Vineyard Vines ad coming to life. This place is all things southern, upscale, and preppy. Milky white buidings, pastel cottages, and beach cruiser bicycles abound in this coastal heaven on earth.

When you step foot into a cottage rental from the Homeowner’s Collection https://homeownerscollection.com/ you’ll be delighted to spot a welcome gift of several local items. A bottle of crisp Sauvignon Blanc, rich organic coffee, two white beach towels and a stylish “Seaside” embroidered insulated beach bag awaited us on a beautiful quartz countertop at our recent rental justly named, “A More Perfect View”.

Upon awakening in your sunlit cottage room, I suggest taking a morning stroll or bike ride through the sleepy neighborhood. Meandering through the streets of architectural masterpieces that are the cottages of Seaside is amongst my favorite pastimes. Adjacent to paved streets, you’ll notice pebbled paths marked by perfect white picket fences to guide you toward hidden sites of private gardens, pastel shutters, widow’s walks, and sprawling porches decked out with teak furniture.

Impeccable swimming pools, gym, playgrounds, sand volleyball and tennis courts are nestled discreetly amongst the cottages. Other must see sites include Ruskin Place Park, the Seaside Chapel, the iconic Seaside Post Office, and the “Wedding Wall”.

Breakfast choices abound. Try them ALL! You’re on vacation after all!

Some of my favorites :

Mimosas ($14 for a HUGE one) & freshly baked biscuit breakfast sandwiches and muffins modicamarket

Crepes & Frose' from Crepes du Soleil Airstream crepesdusoleil

Fancy grilled cheeses… This Little Figgy or Strawberry Goat Forever meltdownon30a

After your morning stroll and yummy breakfast, might I recommend a sun kissed day at the sugary sand beach? The beaches of Seaside are private, so don’t forget your wristband (they check) and save your pavilion code onto your phone lest you get locked out! Make sure to reserve your chairs and umbrellas through Cabana Man several weeks before your 30A vacay. You’ll need to advise them of which pavilion is nearest to your cottage. They offer a lovely service. You’ll feel carefree and pampered when you spot your reserved seating set up and ready for your crew. Just bring your towels, sunscreen, a good book, and plenty of icy cold drinks!

My perfect beach day includes an afternoon siesta back at the cottage once I’m thoroughly sun drenched and sleepy. After a nice little nap and freshening up, it’s off to dinner!

My Favorite Dinner Spots:

The Great Southern - I recommend the Shrimp a Ya Ya The Great Southern

Bud and Alley’s - To be honest, I mostly enjoy their outdoor ambiance and beautiful ocean view. I always order their Seafood Gumbo and/or BBQ Shrimp Appetizer. Bud and Alley's

Bud and Alley’s Pizzza - Do not be disuaded! While I would not typically recommend pizza while on a beach vacation, this is a MUST! All of their pizzas are delicious, as well as the fried Brussel sprouts and Caprese Salad. A MUST order is their COCONUT LIME MOJITO! It is cocktail perfection. Bud and Alley's Pizza

You may have noticed I skipped lunch. Well, that’s how I roll. I’m a breakfast & dinner kinda gal. BUT, I do have two more recs for quick bites that you won’t want to miss!

The Chicken Shack is owned by and next to the Great Southern. I cannot stress enough how delicious their chicken strips are! Tip: Ask for the Zaxby’s(like) sauce. You won’t be disappointed! The Chicken Shack

Pickle’s is an iconic burger joint for a reason. Their food is awesome! Grab a burger but DON’T miss out on their truffle fries and shakes! Pickle's

We typically hit up Heavenly Shortcakes and Ice Cream several times during our Seaside Stays. I have a feeling you will too! Heavenly Ice Cream

Sunsets at Seaside are what dreams are made of. Head back down to the powdery sand and take a Christmas card worthy pic!
